Wisconsin residents who are struggling to pay fuel bills may be eligible for assistance. Here are some of the programs that can help you find assistance paying your home heating oil bills this winter.
Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP): County agencies throughout the sate administer the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and Public Benefits Energy Assistance Program. For information, call (866) 432-8947 or visit homeenergyplus.wi.gov.
Wisconsin Weatherization Assistance Program: This program helps qualified residents reduce heating costs by weatherizing their homes and using other energy conservation techniques. For information, call (866) 432-8947 or visit homeenergyplus.wi.gov.
The Keep Wisconsin Warm Fund: The charitable fund aims to help families that are in crisis keep their heat and power. For more information, call (800) 891-9276 or visit kwwf.org.
The County Office: If you are over 65 or handicapped, you may call the county office on aging.
Milwaukee County: (414) 289-6010
Waukesha County: (866) 677-2372
Washington County: (262) 335-4497
Ozaukee County: (262) 284-8120
The Citizens Energy Oil Heat Program: This program has delivered millions of gallons of discount home heating oil to poor and elderly households since 1979. This unique program helps protect needy families from volatile heating oil prices, which often leave households having to choose between heating the home and paying for other life essentials, such as food, health care, or clothing. For more information on Kaul Oil's participation, view this video, call (877) JOE-4-OIL or visit citizensenergy.com. |
